1 Day Kampala City Tour Itinerary:
Day 1 – Kampala city tour
On this Day after breakfast, our experienced tour driver/ guide will meet you at your Hotel and take you for the tour around Kampala City in Uganda. He will lead you to various famous and exclusive cultural and Historical sites of Kampala city center. You will begin your day with a guided city tour to discover Kampala’s rich history and culture, such as;
- Uganda Museum – It house a number of items that show Uganda’s history, culture and economy. There are many artifacts, musical instruments, items used in the past and more.
- Kasubi Royal Tombs – the burial grounds for the kings of Buganda kingdom. You will hear and understand the Buganda culture and the guides will give a history about the place. The 4 kings(kabaka) buried here are Mutesa 1 & 2, Daudi Chwa, and Mwanga.
- Gadhafi National mosque -This is the Uganda national mosque which was built in 1972 but completed in 2006 with the assistance from col Muammar Gaddafi of Libya and it was named after him as Gaddafi mosque. Visiting the Gadhafi mosque is one of the top places to visit while on city tour of Kampala.
- Nakasero Market – Experience the lively atmosphere of Kampala’s busiest market, where you can find local goods, fresh produce, and crafts.
- Craft Villages at Buganda road to learn about Uganda hand crafted Souvinires and possibly do shopping.
- Lubiri/ Buganda Kings Palace – Lubiri is a former palace of Buganda king and houses the Idi Amin torture chambers where more than 200,000 people lost their lives at the commands of the him by then a Ugandan president Idi Amin –
Take a lunch break:
You will break off for lunch to either a local restaurant if you are interested to test local food or go for international cuisine. Depending on time available and interest, after lunch take a visit to Bahai temple and Namugongo.
- Bahai Temple – The only temple of bahai faith in Africa.
- Namugongo martyrs shrine – The sacred place where 32 believers were killed on commands of Kabaka Mwanga 2 after failing to denounce their faith. Christians allover the world gather here on 3rd June every year to commemorate the Uganda martyrs.
The tour will be flexible to include other locations based on time and interest.
